This might be one of the most personal blog posts I’ve written.

Painting has always been something I do quietly, in the background of everyday life. It’s where I go to process, to reflect, or just to enjoy a slow moment. I never imagined I’d share my artwork this way, but today I get to do something special.

Four of my original watercolor paintings have been turned into wooden wall signs—made here in the USA and offered through Piper Classics. These signs are handcrafted from American hardwood and framed in natural walnut. Each one is made to order and available in four different sizes, so you can find the right fit for your space.

This isn’t just décor. It’s personal. And I’d love to tell you about the first two pieces in this collection.

Simply Orange

This painting came to life one still afternoon when the light was just right. I didn’t plan it. I simply picked up a brush and followed the flow—tangerine, golden yellow, and soft green blending together in a way that felt warm and alive.

Simply Orange brings that feeling into a space. It’s cheerful without being loud, bright without overpowering. I’ve styled it in kitchens and foyers, but I think it would work anywhere you want a little lift.

Shades of Purple

This one feels more introspective. I painted Shades of Purple during a quiet, thoughtful moment—no sketch, no outline, just letting the brush lead. The deep purples and warm greens came together slowly, layered with soft golden tones that give the piece a peaceful, earthy feel.

I love the way this looks in cozy spaces—a bedroom, a hallway, or a reading nook. It has a softness to it that I hope brings calm wherever it’s placed.

From Sketchbook to Wall: Why Framing Matters

There’s something magical about putting your artwork in a frame. The moment I slide one of my watercolor paintings behind glass and click the backing into place, it’s like the piece exhales, finally ready to be seen.

For years, I kept my finished pieces tucked away in portfolios or stacked on shelves. I told myself they weren’t quite good enough or that I didn’t have the right place to display them. But one day, I picked up a simple white frame at a local shop, placed one of my florals inside, and put it on a small table in our entryway.

Something shifted.

Suddenly, it didn’t feel like a practice painting. It felt like part of our home. And more than that, it felt finished.

To be honest, I didn’t even love that painting at first. I was tempted to leave it in the pile, but something made me want to see what it might look like in a frame. And that simple act completely changed how I saw it. It went from something I was unsure about to something I was proud to display.

Simple Frames, Big Impact

Now I frame nearly everything I create. Not because it all needs to be perfect, but because framing honors the time, energy, and heart behind each brushstroke. It elevates the work and helps me actually enjoy it.

Framed art doesn’t have to be expensive. Some of my favorite frames have been under $20. I keep a small collection of 8×10 and 11×14 frames in natural wood, white, and black so I can rotate pieces in and out with the seasons. It’s a gentle way to bring fresh life into a space without doing a full makeover.

That’s the feeling I wanted for our guest bedroom—a space layered in linen, love, and little luxuries. And judging by how many guests have asked to recreate the whole setup? I think we nailed it.
